Admission to Valley Fair Lodge can be accomplished at any time. Physician orders must be obtained to provide a continuum of care, responsible family members must sign the admission packet and needed medication, equipment or supplies that need to be obtained.

Residents may bring any furnishings to provide a personal touch to their room. The only restriction would be if any items hindered the staff from providing care.

TV cable is provided for each room at no additional charge.

Personal telephones are allowed and need to be secured by the resident or family. Valley Fair Lodge provides a cordless phone for the residents use which allows calls to be taken to the residents' room or for privacy to place a call. This phone is a separate line from the business line.

Two large family rooms are available for use by family when large numbers are visiting or a special occasion (holiday, birthdays, etc) creates a need for privacy and space. These rooms are available any time but must be requested and placed on the calendar in advance. Our front lobby/dining room faces east and has a solid wall ceiling to floor windows, which creates a lovely view of the veranda and front yard water fountain. A second lobby is at the East end of the building for quiet gathering and activities and also has ceiling to floor windows looking out on the side yard birdfeeder and pine trees.

Valley Fair Lodge is a smoke free facility. All smoking is supervised in a designated area and all smoking materials must be secured at nursing station. Texas regulations do not allow residents to have any smoking paraphernalia in rooms.

Our laundry is located on premises and deliveries are made all through the day at no charge if preferred family can do laundry but it must be picked up in a timely manner to prevent odors.

Showers are provided in our shower room or whirlpool room, some rooms have a private tub/shower available. All bathing is supervised/assisted for safety.

Each resident is provided privacy with cubicle curtains at each door (in case door is opened) and down the center of each room providing privacy for each person in a semi-private room.

Three meals a day are served with menus provided by a registered dietician. Special diets such as diabetes, low salt and high protein are served as requested by physicians order. Valley Fair Lodge dietary manager visits each new admission to set up their likes and dislikes for meals.

Routine snacks are offered three times daily and physician ordered assessed snacks for special needs prepared 1-3 times daily as ordered.

Valley Fair Lodge provides a security system for those residents who might tend to wander off. Each door has a special alarm that activates when the resident needing extra attention opens the door. The resident wears an ankle bracelet, which trips an alarm alerting staff the resident is at the exit.

Our activity program covers a broad range of interesting options.

Roundtable meetings are held randomly and provide an opportunity for residents and family to learn new things happening in the community, politics and at Valley Fair Lodge. The family or residents can ask questions, make suggestions and set up future agendas.

Care plan meetings are held for every resident every 90 days and each department has input. Family and resident are always invited to take part in these meetings.

Mitchell County Hospital is approximately 12 blocks away and transfers for non emergency visits where the family cannot take the resident may be provided with our van. Where possible family needs to be involved in medical trips as decision sometime need to be made and the resident may not be able to make these decisions.

Beauty shop and barber shop services are offered on premises.

Any staff member employed by Valley Fair Lodge must pass a criminal history check, misconduct registry check, licensure/registry check, and sexual abuse registry check, past work history inquiry, drug screen, physical and Office of Inspector General Fraud Prevention and Detection check.
